5 Facts I Wish I Could Say About Myself *sigh*

Hello friends, RoRo here!

As I already have a lot of different projects happening right now, I naturally came to the conclusion that starting an online journal would be the perfect way to elevate my stress levels - why am I like this? On the up-side, hopefully it will give you an opportunity to get to know the RoRo Studio brand a bit more, and the jack-of-all-trades woman behind it all (that’s me).

To introduce myself, here are 5 facts that I wish I could say about myself - just so we can all adjust our expectations of what you can expect from me!

FACT 1

I’m a full-time artist and maker

An art tutor once told me about a friend who had been asked if artist’s have hobbies, and they responded with, ‘yes, earning a living’. Can I get an amen up in here?

This is the reality for so many creatives - and I am no exception. When I mentioned being a jack-of-all-trades, I really was not exaggerating. I’ve dabbled with creating logos, digital illustrations, visual merchandising, digital marketing - even audio editing.

Now I make jewellery? I’m confused too.

FACT 2

I wake up at 6am everyday and start the day with exercise

After listening to Adrienne London’s podcast ‘The Power Hour’, I was ready to rise before the sun, then start my day with movement to get those endorphins circulating, and just feel my best self.

Every night I go to bed with the best of intentions, but as soon as the default iPhone alarm penetrates my ears, the most movement involved in my mornings is reaching for the snooze button.

It’s one of those things where you know once you have done it, you will feel great. It’s just that the first step is so much steeper than the ones that follow. First world problems aye?

FACT 3

I’m super organised and have everything under control.

Don’t let my undisclosed love for a spreadsheet fool you - I do not have my sh** together.

I will easily spend a whole day creating a planning template, with tasks broken down into categories and integrated time-blocking; then I break out ‘conditional formatting’ so everything can be automatically colour coded. When I’m finished, I feel like a bit of an OG with my new time management spreadsheet.

Then it comes to actually actioning the tasks, and the facade crumbles. It’s this moment I realise that I am not being organised - it’s just a severe case of procrastination in disguise.

But if you would like to use my gangster planning template, then let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do. The ‘conditional formatting’ is actually lit.

FACT 4

I am confident in my abilities and decision-making.

Three(ish) words. Imposter. Mother-tucking. Syndrome. Is this just an integral part of being an adult, because I do not recall being made aware of this when I was being taught how to be a functioning member of society. Surely I can’t be alone? (Please, someone agree)

I have recently become inadequate when making decisions. Sometimes it’s smaller things like ‘will the Monstera be happier closer to the window?’ Other times - and most frequently, it’s just a complete brain malfunction and I sit with my head in my hands at the computer screen because I question whether all my work is “good enough”.

FACT 5

My dance degree is being fully utilised

Here is some more evidence in the case of me being a jack-of-all-trades. Yep, I have a dance degree, although my double chin, dodgy knees, and flat feet might convince you otherwise. Dance was my first love, and I have put it on my goals for this year to bring it back into my life. Granted this will probably be in the form of solo bruk-outs to afro beats in my room, but that’s a start!

So that’s everything I didn’t want you to know, but now you know. If you found any of it relatable, shout off in the comments and let me know your thoughts and feelings.
